Yevgeny studied at the Faculty of Geography of BSU and was arrested as part of a criminal case for allegedly actively participating in group actions that grossly violated public order and for violence against law enforcement officers. He did not admit guilt during the trial. Yevgeny was also ordered to pay moral damages of 2500 rubles to the police officers.
He is recognized as a political prisoner by the human rights center.
